Every once in a while, a design comes together and I know exactly who it's for...and this time, it was for me.
My good friend Barbe St. John sent me a wonderful little goody bag of leftover gemstones from her own work table, among which were a gorgeous window chalcedony and a handful of brown stick pearls. A quick dig through some old jewelry that I had made a few years ago turned up a pair of cast bronze twigs from my friends at Ezel Findings out in the Pacific Northwest. Putting them all together, I knew I was on to something, and a sprinkling of raw amazonite nuggets brought in a bit of the lightness I was looking for in this piece.
Movement is added by a few chain and clear quartz fringes near the center of the necklace, and a simple handmade hook works beautifully as a clasp.
As I put this piece together, I just knew that this one was going to be just for me. Thankfully, I have another piece of raw chalcedony sitting on my work table, a handful of amazonite and brown freshwater pearls already wrapped and waiting, and I can get more of those gorgeous cast twigs from Ezel Findings. So look for another one of these sometime in the next few weeks for sale in my shop or in an online show.
Speaking of online shows...my next big show in The Auction House Facebook group starts at midnight Friday night (March 23) and runs until 11:45 p.m. Sunday the 24th! I'll be debuting my new collection of gemstone jewelry inspired by the air element, along with gorgeous jewelry from two other handmade artists.
If you're looking for a custom piece of work for ritual or ceremonial work, contact me and let's talk! I would love to create a piece just for you!
