Ahhh, amethyst! February's birthstone, and one of my favorite healing gemstones of all time. There were a few years there in my misguided youth where I veered well clear of anything purple, but thankfully, I have come to my senses and now embrace the color purple in all aspects of my self-adornment: clothing, jewelry, and even hair color.
Amethyst gets its name from the ancient Greek word amethustos, meaning "sober". Indeed, the ancient Romans and Greeks believed that amethyst could cure drunkenness and relieve hangovers (not that I recommend testing out that particular theory).
Amethyst has long been regarded as a highly spiritual stone, reflecting the color of the crown chakra. It's best suited for us earthy people to help bring lightness and ease during meditation. Wearing or carrying amethyst during meditation is a wonderful way to help us open up to the spiritual concept of love.
When it comes to supporting treatment for physical illness, amethyst is my go-to stone for anxiety, insomnia, and migraine headaches. (Please remember to always check with your physician for health care, and use your stones as energetic support!)
If you or someone you love was born in February, I've got lots of gorgeous amethyst jewelry for you.
Just do a quick search for "amethyst" and you'll find all the beautiful amethyst options available in my shop!
